Larson Heads Forging Association; 2006 Custom Forging Sales Up

Donald Larson is the new president of the Forging Industry Association. Larson is president of Chicago-based Larson & Sons Inc. Timothy Hunter of McInnes Rolled Rings, Erie, PA, was elected vice president.
John Pale of American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. was elected president of the Forging Industry Educational & Research Foundation.
The Forging Industry Association reported 2006 North American sales up in all three categories. Impression die sales increased 4% from 2005 to reach $5.9 billion for 2006; open die sales rose 24% to 1.2 billion for 2006; and seamless rings 2006 sales jumped 42% to $1.2 billion.
Founded in 1913, the FIA reports 113 North American producer members accounting for about 68% of custom forging volume. FIA also has 84 supplier members.
