Barnes Distribution Income Rises
Barnes Distribution Income Rises
Jason Sandefur
Sales at Barnes Distribution, including fasteners, climbed 23% to $152.5 million in the first quarter of 2007. About $3.7 million resulted from organic growth. Q1 operating profit rose 14% to $10.2 million, reflecting “a shift in the business mix to lower margin customers, an increase in field compensation as a result of an investment in a larger fixed cost sales force, and higher supplier costs and freight costs,” the company stated. “These costs were largely offset through higher selling prices.” ****************************************************************
