Harris Semi-Retiring; Yates & Goins Head Southern Fasteners Operations

R.J. Harris is semi-retiring from Southern Fasteners & Supply Inc. Harris retains a majority of stock and the title of president, but operations are being taken over by a new part-owner and vice president, Gene Yates; Harris’ daughter, Donna Goins, as a part-owner and sales manager; and Glenn Goins as service manager.

Harris started in the fastener industry in 1960 with Interlock Screw & Bolt, which later became House of Threads. Harris also was a sales rep for Southern Screw. Harris started Triad Fasteners in 1972 and sold it in 1973. He started Southern Fasteners 26 years ago. Harris has been a member of the National Fastener Distributors Association board.
