Koelner Invests In Rawl Glasgow Factory
Jason Sandefur
Months after acquiring Rawl operations in the UK, Ireland and France, Koelner Group of Poland is investing 2.5 million (US$4.6 million) at the company’s Glasgow, Scotland, production facility, Fastener & Fixing Europe reports. Rawl manufactures heavy duty fasteners at Glasgow, which is also its research and development center.
More than 1 million had already been spent on computer upgrades, as well as additional warehousing and loading facilities. An additional 1.3million has also been committed for a new Nedschroef 518 boltmaker in December to increase existing production and provide a platform for planned new products.
The investment signals a major role for the Scottish facility, according to F&FE. A 2 million high-bay warehouse extension is also planned in 2007 to allow Rawl to take advantage of some 22,000 fixings part numbers already offered by the Koelner Group.
“For the first time in many years we have an owner that truly understands our business, our products and our marketplace,” stated Stephen Cadden, technical and operations director for Rawl. “Koelner has demonstrated an unequivocal commitment to bringing the Rawl brand back to the forefront of the market – driven by advanced development and modern manufacturing, here in Glasgow as well as in Poland.” Web: koelner.biz 2006 FastenerNews.com and Fastener & Fixing Europe
