2005 Forging Sales Up 21.6%
Forging 2005 sales of metal forgings produced by North American independent forging plants rose 21.6% over 2004, according to figures released by the Forging Industry Association.
Custom impression die forging – with the automotive industry as the main customer – increased 15%. Custom open die forging for primarily the construction, mining and materials handling equipment rose 36%. Custom seamless rolled ring forging dominated by aerospace sales jumped 42%.
Forging sales for 2005 were 54.8% over 1995. There had been sales declines in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
