ASTM Issues Fastener Zinc Galvanizing Standard
John Wolz
The ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners adopted a new standard for zinc coating, hot-dip requirements for application to carbon and alloy steel fasteners.
The new standard, designated ASTM F2329, deals with coating threaded fasteners and washers by hot-dip zinc galvanizing.
Salim Brahimi of Canada’s Ibeca Technologies Corp. described the new standard as “an important milestone in the path embarked upon by Committee F16 to assume and maintain jurisdiction over coating standards that specifically address the concerns of the fastener industry. ” Web: astm.org 2006 FastenerNews.com
