LISI Aerospace Canada announced the official opening of its new fastener production facility in Dorval, Quebec. The 48,880 sq ft plant will employ up to 140 employees over the next five years. The facility has been operating since June 2005.
Production will be dedicated to making aerospace fasteners for such clients as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Rolls Royce.
“Quality infrastructures, the availability of specialized manpower in the greater Montreal area and Quebec as well as competitive operating costs are just a few factors that make Quebec an attractive area for companies who wish to establish themselves in the aerospace industry,” commented general manager Farrell Campbell.
LISI Aerospace also operates two facilities in California that manufacture fasteners for airframes and special fasteners mainly for aircraft interior fittings.
Quebec officials hope the new LISI facility will bolster Montreal’s reputation as a major aerospace center along with Seattle and Toulouse, France.
The new facility highlights a strong performance by parent company LISI Group in 2005. LISI reported revenue during the third quarter rose 25% to Euro 159.1 million (US$192.3 million), while nine-month sales rose 11.8% to Euro 450.9 million. “This progression is primarily due to LISI Aerospace,” the company noted in its quarterly report. LISI Aerospace revenues rose 15.8% in Q3, while nine-month revenues gained 14.7%.
Paris, France-based LISI Aerospace is the third largest manufacturer of aeronautical assembly components in the world. The company employs 2,800 people in 11 production facilities in France, Great Britain, the U.S., Turkey, Mexico and Canada. Web: lisi-group.com 2005 FastenerNews.com
