Stropes Retiring From Threaded Rod
John Wolz
Kim Stropes is retiring as president of Threaded Rod Company Inc. on December 31, 2003, after 44 years in the fastener industry, CEO Rebecca Branson announced. Stropes has been with Threaded Rod for 30 years.
Stropes started at Quality Mill Supply Co. in Indianapolis, and then was with Jones & Laughlin Steel Service Center for 10 years.
Thirty years ago we were a very small company, Stropes recalled of his starting at Threaded Rod. We did everything from order desk to washing the windows to loading trucks.
The biggest change during his career has been replacing personal relationships with a numbers game, Stropes observed. People used to do things for each other. He attributed the change to the electronic revolution, but noted that technology has been a plus in allowing companies to operate more efficiently.
Stropes can be emailed at Stropes3@aol.com.
