WAFD to Meet in Portland
The Western Association of Fastener Distributors changed its fall conference to September 13-16, 2000, in Portland, OR.
The conference will be at the Fifth Avenue Suites Hotel in downtown Portland.
The conference had been scheduled in November in Las Vegas. WAFD is still planning seminars on November 16 in Las Vegas prior to the National Industrial Fastener Show/West.
WAFD Spring Program
Jay Hebert will speak on the change from handling sales and marketing for a manufacturer and for a master distributor at the May 3-6, 2000 WAFD Spring Conference in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
Hebert joined Porteous Fastener Company as senior vice president of sales after more than 27 years with Lake Erie Screw.
Hebert also will discuss the current situation in Asian fastener factories and trends for the coming year.
Bart Basi will speak on business valuation and on tax and retirment planning.
Michael Silverstein, a physician, an assistant director for Washington Industrial Safety & Health Act Services and a leader in the Washington state ergonomics rule-making, and Stephen Bao, director of the ergonomics laboratory for the Washington Department of Labor & Industries will talk about preventing musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. They will speak after conducting a survey of Empire Bolt & Screw�s facility in Spokane, WA, to determine the impact of proposed OSHA regulations on small business.
The WAFD program includes the regular business executives forum.
Rep. George Nethercutt, who represents eastern Washington, will speak at the Saturday breakfast.
