Hilti To Close Tulsa Plant
Jason Sandefur
Hilti Corp. announced it will close its construction fastener and drill bit manufacturing plant in Tulsa and move production overseas. The Associated Press reports that Hiltis North American division, based in Tulsa, will eliminate about 140 jobs and shut down the facility by the end of 2004.
Gil Morris, CEO of Hilti North America, told AP that the company makes the Tulsa products at other plants. Consequently, the decision was made to consolidate the products manufactured in Tulsa at fewer plants in Asia and Europe.
Parent company Hilti, located in Schaan, Liechtenstein, employs about 13,000 people worldwide. Web: hilti.com 2003 FastenerNews.com
