2007 FIN  TriMas Finalizes Sales to Fontana & Holbrook
February 9, 2007 FIN – TriMas Corp. finalized the sale of Lake Erie Products in two separate transactions.
The Italy-based Fontana Group acquired the large-diameter industrial headed fastener business based primarily in Frankfort, IN.
Lake Erie’s small-diameter fastener business in Wood Dale, IL, was bought by Holbrook Mfg. in Wheeling, IL. Web: holbrookinc.com
TriMas has reported the Lake Erie Products business as a discontinued operation in its financial statements since the fourth quarter of 2005.
Lake Erie was founded in 1946 by John Wasmer Sr. In 1986 Lake Erie was sold to form TriMas Corp., which eventually became part of Heartland Industrial Partners.

February 6, 2007 FIN –  Holbrook Mfg. acquired Lake Erie Products L.E.P. Wood Dale small screw division.
L.E.P. Wood Dales capabilities and product offering mirror Holbrooks,’ according to a company statement. The acquisition adds capacity and manufacturing and service personnel.
Holbrook manufactures custom, licensed and standard cold-headed fasteners. Holbrook is headquartered in an 80,000 sq ft facility with more than 100 single and multi-die cold headers, thread rollers, shavers, slotters and drillers. Propriety products include: Torx, Taptite, Plastite, Remform and Phillips. Holbrook is headquartered at 288 Holbrook Dr., Wheeling, IL 60090. The former owners of K-Tech Mfg. sold the company to Mascotech Inc. in 1998 and after three years left Mascotech to form Holbrook. Holbrook now includes K-Tech, Eskay and Lake Eries Wood Dale. Holbrook is headed by CEO Don Kuhns and president Gary VanderPoel.
Bloomfield, MI-based TriMas Corp. announced plans last year to sell its fastener business. Lake Erie Products, which includes Entegra Fastener and Lake Erie Screw, manufactures small specialty and custom fasteners and build-to-print large-diameter fasteners. The company operates facilities in Frankfort, IN, where it is headquartered; Wood Dale, IL; Lakewood, OH; and Livonia, MI.
