As a member of the Founder’s Council, Sherex Fastening Solutions LLC is looking to leverage a state of New York program to develop new products.
That includes lighter fasteners in demand from automotive and aerospace customers, Sherex president Adam Pratt said.
The state of New York is investing $30 million in Buffalo Manufacturing Works – a research center with industry and academic partners.
Sherex is headquartered in Tonawanda – halfway between Buffalo and Niagara Falls – where it employs 32 people and manufactures blind rivet nuts.
Pratt told GlobalFastenerNews.com that “research on replacing steel fasteners with new lightweight materials such as carbon fiber can be expensive and by using shared facilities and engineers, research and product development will be more cost-effective.”
