NIFMSE Opens in Las Vegas

The first National Industrial Fastener Show & Conference was held in June 1981 in Columbus, Ohio.
The 2013 version of the National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo opens Wednesday with conferences and an opening reception. The trade show opens at 9 a.m. Thursday. It ends at 1 p.m. Friday.
The first Columbus trade show totaled 103 booths. That number grew to 653 by the record Columbus year in 1998. The last East show was 2011 with 53 booths.
Over the Columbus years, show management brought in sports celebrities Woody Hayes, Rocky Blier, Bobby Knight, George Blanda and Terry Bradshaw; Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell; and Sen. Lowell Weicker of Connecticut.
The first show in Las Vegas was held in 1997 and totaled 228 booths.
The largest Las Vegas NIFMSE booth count thus far is 829 in 2007.
Last year’s show reached 770 booths.
The 2013 show – marking 33 years for show founders / owners Jim Bannister and Mike McGuire – will top the 2012 booth total, but not reach the record. Last advance count was 612 companies totaling 792 booths.
