September 19, 2006 FIN – Fastener Tech 07 will replace the industry wide Fastener Week held in 2005 in Chicago with several fastener associations and publications participating.

Fastener Tech will include a trade show, networking and social events, plus education for international manufacturers, distributors and fastener users.
The first Fastener Tech is scheduled for June 25-28, 2007, at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, near Chicagos OHare International Airport.
Industry trade associations and publications participating in the show include the Mid-West Fastener Association, National Fastener Distributors Association, Los Angeles Fastener Association and Fastener Technology International. FastenerNews.com will sponsor a conference session during Fastener Tech. Other participants will be announced in October.
“This new event is similar in format to last years successful Fastener Week concept that brought fastener distributors and manufacturers together in Rosemont,'” MWFA executive director Nancy Rich explained. ”We have reviewed what we learned in 2005 and fine-tuned the program to improve and simplify the experience for attendees and exhibitors from all over the international fastener industry,” Rich told FIN.”
“We are definitely interested in participating in the development of this program,”’ NFDA executive vice president John Hausoul said.
It is clear that in todays market there are important relationships and activities between fastener makers, distributors and users from around the world,’ Fastener Technology International associate publisher Chip Lippincott added.
At $1,350 per booth Fastener Tech 07 prices are closer to commercial trade shows than traditional association tabletop shows. Booths at the 2007 National Industrial Fastener Show/East in Atlanta are $1,445 to $1,495. However, the Fastener Tech price does include a base furniture package. Booth furniture adds several hundred dollars to exhibitor costs. The Fastener Tech 07 sponsors plan drive-in unloading and loading of exhibit materials plus drayage and rigging services at cost’ and free exhibit hall passes for staff and customers.
Beyond a traditional distribution-oriented show, the organizers are marketing the show for manufacturers, with exhibitors displaying manufacturing equipment, tooling, quality control, sorting, gages, testing equipment, packaging and handling equipment, coatings and platings, wire and bar and heat treating. Fastener Tech also seeks fastener assembly exhibitors with booths displaying nutrunners, rivet guns, automation systems and feeders.

Manufacturing Shows
The 2005 Fastener Week featured side-by-side distribution and manufacturing trade shows. The Industrial Fasteners Institute and the International Fastener Machinery & Suppliers Association sponsored the 2005 manufacturing-oriented Industrial Fastener & Forming International.
For 2007 IFMSA will co-locate its International Fastener Exposition with the Wire Association International. It will be May 5-10, 2007, in Cleveland.
“These are two very different shows,”’ IFMSA executive director Ray Zirkle emphasized. The Cleveland show will include fastener machinery, materials, components, tooling, accessories, supplies and services for manufacturing fasteners and cold formed precision parts, Zirkle noted. IFE is co-located and cross-promoted with Interwire,” Zirkle added. The WAI event provides both IFE exhibitors and attendees additional value and incentive to participate.’
There appears to be some confusion about IFE 2007′ and Fastener Tech, Zirkle wrote to exhibitors. While Fastener Tech is being promoted to all segments of the fastener industry, IFE attendees are manufacturers of fasteners and precision formed parts,’ Zirkle explained. Attendees visiting IFE booths will be actively involved with manufacturing.’ IFE also is not a show for end-users,’ Zirkle added. End-users are primarily the customers of your customers.’
The Industrial Fasteners Institute, which represents fastener manufacturers and their suppliers, has endorsed and supported’ IFE, Zirkle noted. However, the IFI will not be directly involved in an organizing role with either Fastener Tech or IFE in 2007. ©2006/2014 Fastener Industry News.
