May 22, 2010 FIN – Silver Lake College of Manitowoc, WI, presented an honorary doctorate degree to Robert Endries during 2010 graduation ceremonies.
Endries and his wife, Pat Endries, started a fastener distributorship in the basement of their Brillion, WI, home in 1970 with $5,000 in capital.
Endries International grew to 70 locations, 450 employees and $145 million in sales by 2004 and was sold to Ferguson Enterprises in 2005.
Endries was the 1983-84 president of the National Fastener Distributors Association and the 1993 president of the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association.
In 1986 Endries was named the Wisconsin Small Business Person of the Year and in 2007 he was inducted into the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame.
Silver Lake College cited Endries’ role as chair of the college trustees and honorary chair of its capital campaign; leadership in several religious boards; a fund drive to aid the mentally and physically handicapped; and Manitowoc’s Capitol Civic Center.©2010/2013 Fastener Industry News
October 25, 2005 FIN – Steve Endries will remain with Endries International following the sale of his company to Norfolk, VA-based Ferguson Enterprises on September 30.
“Ferguson is excited to have the Endries family as part of our team,” commented Ferguson CEO John Stegeman. “Their expertise in the fastener business combined with vendor-managed inventory and materials handling capabilities offers our company great opportunities for further growth and process improvement.”
Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Endries will now operate as part of Ferguson’s Commercial/Industrial business group and will continue to trade as Endries International and Endries Inc.
The sale included Endries’ headquarters in Brillion, WI, as well as leased locations in the U.S.
In a written statement, Ferguson said Endries would provide the company with “expansion opportunities in the fastener and VMI business area.” Founded in 1970, Endries operated as a family-owned fastener distributor and inventory management company for 35 years.
Endries employs 500 people and has annual sales of $150 million.
In the U.S., Ferguson is ranked by trade publications as the largest distributor of plumbing supplies and pipes, valves and fittings. Ferguson is also the third-largest distributor of heating and cooling equipment. Founded in 1953, Newport News, VA-based Ferguson employs 18,100 workers in over 1,000 locations in the U.S., Mexico and Puerto Rico. October 4, 2005 FIN – Endries International has been sold to Ferguson Enterprises, Endries president Steve Endries told FIN.
Endries now operates as a Ferguson subsidiary. More details about the acquisition will be available in the coming weeks, Steve Endries explained.
Founded in 1970, Endries operated as a family-owned fastener distributor and inventory management company for 35 years. The Brillion, WI-based firm employs over 450 people and reported sales of $145 million in 2004.
