Columbus Numbers Drop Again; Promoters Make No Announcement About 2003

John Wolz

Attendee registration for the 22nd annual National Industrial Fastener Show/East fell 34.9%, overall registration dropped nearly 42% and the number of booths was down 42.6%, according numbers announced by show management.
Show general partners Jim Bannister termed the Columbus show a “viable and valuable event” but neither the show program nor the post-show news release mentioned the show promoters plans for 2003. The 23rd annual show has been scheduled for May 13, 2003, in Columbus.
Show management reported 149 companies occupying 162 booths. There were 282 booths last year and 653 at the peak in 1996. Exhibitor personnel registration fell 44% from 2001 to 490 this year.
Show managements registration numbers include advance and onsite registrations. Show management does not use a verified system to determine actual attendance so the results may vary. The show is not audited by an independent trade show quality assurance system. Web: fastenershows.com 2002 FastenerNews.com
