Three Bankruptcies and One Success Story from Late 90s U.S. Fastener Distributor Acquisitions
FEATURE
The Fastener History articles on Distribution Dynamics and Questron Technologies drew considerable industry interest last week. But those weren’t the only “roll-up” fastener companies expanding via acquisition of successful fastener distributorships in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Two more companies are now posted in the Fastener History section of GlobalFastenerNews.com.
• A January 20, 1998 FIN article tells the story of five distributors with annual sales exceeding $120 million forming Pentacon Inc. By 2002 Pentacon emerged from bankruptcy upon acquisition by Anixter International Inc.
• In contrast with the public companies which fell into bankruptcy in less than a decade, Künzelsau, Germany-based Würth Group started acquiring U.S. distributorships and the company continues to grow worldwide. See the December 9, 1997, FIN interview with Reinhold Würth.
