2nd All American Fastener Show Set for 2011
On a scale of 1-to-10, one exhibitor rated the first All American Fastener Show with four nines and a three.
The three was for suppliers who attended the show but didn’t exhibit.
Attendance at the May 7, 2010, trade show in southwestern Missouri resort town of Branson was “very soft,” the exhibitor told FIN, but “it was an added disappointment to see the number of suppliers/reps that came to ‘walk’ the show. For $695 they could have supported the show and given more reasons for distributors to attend.”
For 2010 there were 34 exhibiting companies totaling 36 booths.
He scored the show a “9” on Branson being a “very friendly, beautiful small city that offers a lot of simple things to do”; a “9” for the “very friendly” host hotel – though he noted that at $139 was “a little more than you would expect to pay in Branson”; a “9” for the hotel convention center; and a “9” for the “very well organized show from the registration, reception and the show itself. Everything was done first class.”
The show had a “big time setting with a regional exposure,” one exhibitor declared. “Branson is not in a location that you get in and out of without driving from somewhere. The local distributor base is not strong in numbers therefore the show has to depend on attracting people from across the country.”
“In my opinion recent NIFS/East fastener shows have failed as have many of the regional shows. The Las Vegas show is large but offers too many distractions and in many cases the people you should to meeting with are left behind. I will support future shows in Branson given I see efforts in promoting the show. As a supplier you look for pay back,
return on investment.”
An exhibitor counted about 125 attendees.
The attendee registration fee started at $15 in advance and $25 at the show, but complimentary codes were offered for free registration.
Another exhibitor at almost every fastener trade show rated the All American show as “not that good but almost everybody signed up for next year. They like Branson.”
Show organizer Heidi Volltrauer announced the second show will be May 12-13, 2011, again at the Hilton Branson Hotel.
A golf outing will be added in 2011.
Volltrauer is waiting for exhibitor feedback before planning for 2012.
“All in all it was a great first show,” Volltrauer told FIN. She extended the opening reception “because people were having such a great time.”
“We already have 20 booths signed up for next year,” Volltrauer reported.
