1993 FIN – Three Fastener Trade Shows Announced
By Dick Callahan, FIN Editor
November 15, 1993 FIN – In the last few months three groups have indicated that they intend to fill what they perceive as a need for fastener expositions.
• Fastech ’94 scheduled for November 29- December 1, 1994 in Basle, Switzerland.
• Fastener World ’95, scheduled for March 6-9 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• World Fastener Exposition (WFE ’95) scheduled for March 28,29, 30, and 1995 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Those are in addition to the National Industrial Fastener Show & Conference to be held next May 9-11, 1994, in Columbus, Oho; some other overseas expositions; those sponsored by a number of fastener associations; as well as others, like Leo Coar’s various enterprises.
Fastech ’94, to be held in the Messi Basel in Basle, Switzerland, is the brainchild of Mack-Brooks Exhibitions Ltd. of England, an outfit which organizes trade shows around the world. It was the founder and organizer of the IFE held in Atlanta, Georgia. Mack-Brooks has dropped out of the IFE picture in recent shows.
Fastener World ’05 to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia is being put together by John Hogg of Intras International of England.
After a falling out with Mack-Brooks, Hogg started the world’s largest wire exposition (held biennially) in Düsseldorf, Germany, later adding separate exhibition areas at these shows for fasteners, pipes and tubes, and other materials. Fastener World ’95 will run alongside Wire World ’95 and Tube World ’95 in Philadelphia. And if you think the timing of this show might conflict somewhat with WFE95 you’re right. It was planned that way.
World Fastener Exposition ’95 (WFE95) is another show within a show. It will be part of Interwire ’95, sponsored by the Wire Association, to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta Georgia.
Interwire shows in the recent past have been held in the same convention hall at the same time as the International Fastener Expositions but the Wire Association has been trying to push IFE out of the picture.
Hogg was largely responsible for the early success of Interwire against whom he’s now competing and Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd. He has some sort of consulting role with Interwire. ©1993/2011 Fastener Industry News.
