1992 FIN – Medalist Acquires Pioneer Screw & Nut

June 11, 1992 FIN – Pioneer Screw & Nut Co. has agreed to be acquired by Medalist Industries Inc.

The Mequon, Wisconsin-based Medalist is a publicly listed company which has been moving away from its involvement as a mini-conglomerate, in activities like bicycles, apparel and machinery, toward a couple of core activities like fasteners and hardware.

Medalist Fasteners Inc. of Chicago is a Medalist Industries company.

The genesis of Medalist Fasteners was an agreement reached between Chicago-based Lewis Screw Co. – then a subsidiary of Dallas-based Columbia General Corp. – and Medalist Industries to form a new entity called Medalist Fasteners Inc.
Medalist Fasteners now includes Lewis Screw, Champion Screw, Redi-Bolt, Boltmaster, Taylor Chain and A-Model Threaded Rod.

Pioneer Screw produces automotive and industrial fasteners in Elk Grove Village, and has sales and distribution facilities in California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Michigan.

Medalist Industries was established in 1954 by a doctor, two lawyers, a jeweler, a funeral director, a personnel director, a truck distributor, a baker and four accountants who raised $345,000 to acquire woodworking machinery manufacturer J.M. Nash Co. ©1992/2009 Fastener Industry News.
