1989 FIN – Florida Bolt & Nut Honored by Power Company
January 14, 1989 – Florida Bolt & Nut Co., West Palm Beach, Florida, was recently presented with the 1988 Florida Power & Light Co. Quality Vendor Award.
Cheryl Warner, executive vice president at Florida Bolt, explained that the company participated in a quality vendor program designed by FPL, which led to the presentation of the award.
In the early stages of the FPL program, Florida Bolt was selected out of 2,000 companies to operate under a quality vendor plan which it had to submit to FPL. After operating under its plan, Florida Bolt was selected as one of 10 companies to receive the Quality Vendor Award.
According to Warner, Florida Bolt & Nut was the only Florida-based small business which was chosen.
Florida Bolt & Nut, a full line distributor of fasteners, was founded 34 years ago by Howard R. Swartz, who is now chairman. Howard’s son, Michael R. Swartz, president, now runs the company.
Operating additional branches in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Florida, the company is headquartered at 1306 Allendale Rd., West Palm Beach, FL. 33405.
Footnote: While we’re on the subject of awards, Florida Bolt & Nut was also selected as a winner of the 1st Annual Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, presented by the U.S. Department of Commerce in commemoration of the late Malcolm Baldridge, former Commerce Secretary. ©1989/2015 Fastener Industry News.
