1989 FIN – Bowman Distribution Expanding Rockford Center
June 21, 1989 FIN – Bowman Distribution has begun construction of a major expansion of its distribution and service center in Rockford, Illinois.
Bowman is adding 27,500 sq ft to the facility located at 5052 28th Ave. in East Rock Industrial Park. The expansion almost doubles it space to 64,325 sq ft.
Bowman is a direct-to-user distributor of consumable parts and supplies to the maintenance and repair market.
The addition to the Rockford center – one of 14 distribution centers in the Bowman network in the U.S. and Canada – enables it to carry a full complement of Bowman Products. The inventory will include items ranging from high strength fasteners, adhesive, sealants and MRO supplies to serice chemicals, tools, safety equipment and welding/brazing alloys.
James Henrickson, Rockford center manager, says among the services affected by the expansion will be an enlarged will-call service area to increase its over-the-counter business.
Overall, Bowman’s direct-to-user business in North America sells more than 18,000 different items to over 75,000 customers. Headquartered in Cleveland, Bowman consists of five business units serving the automotive and industrial aftermarket.
