1986 FIN – Fastener Women’s Network Holds 1st Meeting
June 28, 1986 FIN – A newly formed fastener group – The Exchange Network – held its first meeting in Columbus, Ohio, in conjunction with the 6th annual National Industrial Fastener Show & Conference.
Originally called The Fastener Female Network, the breakfast meeting of “TEN” drew 42 ladies to learn about the organization.
There were four speakers: A man – Tony VanHoozer of Gesipa USA, Inc. – and three women – Mary Ann Langholz, executive director/secretary-treasurer of the National Fastener Distributors Association, Sarah Barnett, national sales manager for U.S.E. Diamond Inc., and Cherry Vujevich, who recently left V-Industries where she was sales manager to become a majority owner and sales manager of Profast, Inc., a manufacturer of bolts and other fasteners.
TEN president Laura A. Kaiser, vice president/general manager of Flexalloy Inc.’s Indianapolis Division told FIN that driving force behind the establishment of TEN was a trio of executives from Flexalloy’s Indianapolis Division including herself; Nancy Crawford, purchasing manager; and Cathy Monschien of the inside sales staff.
The original prospectus for TEN, described it as “an organization linking the fast track fastener females of varying ages, interests, positions, experience and goals.” However, Kaiser told FIN, the group has moved away from this orientation and membership is now open to anyone – male or female – who cares to join.
The first issue of TEN’s six-page newsletter will be in the mail soon and if you’re interested in obtaining a copy contact Laura A. Kaiser, vice president/general manager, Fastener Systems Div., 7951 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268. ©1986/2010 Fastener Industry News
