1986 FIN – Fast Finder Unveils Computerized Sourcing for Excess Inventory
March 12, 1986 FIN – Fast Finder Inc. has developed a computerized sourcing and excess inventory listing service for the fastener industry.
Fast Finder marketing director Terry Lubenow explained that subscribers may list their surplus inventory making it available to other subscribers across the nation. Inventory data is updated daily providing users with accurate and current information.
The search for items is simplified by the Fast Finder computer system, Lubenow said. Users specify the exact part needed and the computer searches its database of thousands of items, giving the supplier, price, location and other information.
Alternative items can be found by entering only partial specifications and having the computer provide all items that match the given criteria.
To gain industry acceptance, San Diego-based Fast Finder is providing all the necessary computer equipment as part of the $100 monthly fee.
In addition to a terminal and modem this fee includes 25 free listings. Additional listings cost 5 cents to 50 cents monthly per line item depending on volume. ©1986/2009 Fastener Industry News.
